Book Blogger Confessions #1

Book Blogger Confessions is a brand-spanking-new meme created by Karen at For What It's Worth and Tiger at Tiger's All Consuming Books.

On the first and third Monday of each month, there will be a new blogging topic up for discussion. The idea to give bloggers a place to vent, share opinions and maybe solutions to the problems we all face.
This week's topic is:

How has the "job" of book blogging changed your reading habits? Both pro and con.

Pro's:
Since I started blogging with a friend and trying out my own blog, I found that I have been giving different genre's more of a chance, before I would look at a cover, see that it was a Young Adult and figure that it would be to young and thus uninteresting.
Now, I know better, it also gives me a chance to find those books that haven't been released yet and yes, some of the ARC's haven't been the best I have read, I have been reading more and more of them and establising a name in the writing community for the day that I decided to put my work out there.

Con's:
I don't always have time to read what I want to read and my To-Read list seems to tower over my head at times. It is as if I have a fort of the written word that I want to bunk down in and disapear from the rest of the world for a while.
With Starcrossed Reviews, I know the schedule was very packed, what with Hops, Giveaway's and then interviews, it got to the point that I would get new books, some gifts other's that were must have's because of being written by my favorite author's and they would start to gather dust on my shelf as I had to wait and watch it tease me from afar.

An in between:
Since I started blogging, it has also showed me how tough some of the critic's can be, I mean, I have seen some just completely trash someone's work and it scares me to get mine out there. I am very self consciouse of my works and progress. I have learned to find the good and the bad in the books I have read even if I don't like them at all.
I know I would never tear someone's stuff down as hard as I have seen, after all, that is someone's dream and I know I would be  crushed and probably will have a hard time when it comes to the review process of my finished works.

  1. Hey! I completely agree w/you about reading books that would have passed me by before blogging. I can't believe how much my world has been opened up.
I'm also w/you on scary TBR-piles. I feel my unread books judging me all the time!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
