Passion by Lauren Kate

Synopsis:

Luce would die for Daniel.

And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be that way. . . .

Luce is certain that something—or someone—in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime . . . going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel . . . and finally unlock the key to making their love last.

Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history.

Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames . . . forever.

Sweeping across centuries, PASSION is the third novel in the unforgettably epic FALLEN series.

Borrowed it from a friend!
Review:

This book was like a mini-movie. We were allowed the privilege of tagging along with Luce as she travels through an Announcer and visits her past lives in order to learn more and understand better the relationship of hers and Daniels star-crossed love.

I liked the thought of being able to travel back and visit the past lives. It was interesting to see the predicaments that Luce's lives always seemed to get into while falling in love with Daniel. She also lived a variety, no plain jane for this main character.

What I didn't like was the fact that time and time again Luce got in trouble and waited for Daniel to come and save her. I have never been one to enjoy the whole damsel in distress scene.
I did think it was incredibly sweet that Daniel came up with a way to make Luce's past lives last moments less agonizing.
Memorable Quote:
"How many times have I told you, I will always find you."

Favorite Charachter:
Cam, he proved the dangers of having a broken heart. He trully had my sympathy's as his small tale was told and we learned how he came to be how he was in modern day.

Torment by Lauren Kate

Synopsis:
Hell on earth.

That’s what it’s like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel.
It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts—immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students: Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.

At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn’t told her everything. He’s hiding something—something dangerous.
What if Daniel’s version of the past isn’t actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?

The second novel in the addictive FALLEN series . . . where love never dies.

Bought it with my own Money!

Review:
This was not the first time I have picked the book up and tried to push through it, in fact the first time I did pick up Torment I found that I could not get even halfway through.

Perhaps I was in a different state of mind or I just had a hankering for something else, either way I finally was able to finish it this time around.

I have mixed feelings about the book sadly.

It still will remain on my bookshelf if not just for the cover alone, which is stunning. The Fallen series has absolutely beautiful cover art.

I did like that the character's had a lot of spunk, some of them were not afraid to say what they thought. The characters were very strong if not a bit repetitive in personalities which is normal given the way people actually are.

I was not a fan of Daniel, the over protectiveness and bossiness of the angel seriously tested my patience, been through it once and never again. So I completely understood Luce's frustration.

I did like the ending, I believe it was my favorite out of the entire book.

Favorite Charrie: Arriane, I always love the girls who kick butt.

Fractured Light by McClellan (ARC Review)

Synopsis:
I’m dying, I thought. This was unexpected and not at all how I envisioned my death. I was supposed to die gardening in a flowerbed as a hundred-year-old woman, not as a seventeen-year-old trapped in a lake beneath inches of ice.

Llona Reese is used to living on the run. After the Vykens killed her parents, she knew they would eventually come for her too. She can’t take any chances. But when she starts to make friends for the first time in her life, she gets careless and lets her guard down. Big mistake.

As an Aura, Llona can manipulate light and harness its energy. But if she wants to survive, Llona will have to defy the Auran Council and learn to use her power as a weapon against the Vyken whose sole desire is to take her light. Now she’s caught in something even bigger than she can understand, with a power she can’t wield, and no one she can trust, except, just maybe, a mysterious stranger.

In this breathtaking and romantic adventure, Rachel McClellan delivers a truly mesmerizing story that will keep you guessing to the very end.

Review:
At first this was a slow starter for me, and I feared that it would be like so many books I have recently read, one that I would have to force myself to push through, I think one of my main problems was that I was a little lost in the begging, luckily for me as I progressed through the book I was glad that I kept with it. Everything was explained and I found myself relating to Llona and the fact that she kept everyone at arms length in high school because it was dangerous. Both parents dead, she has lived a life relying mainly on herself.

Then to add to the fact that a forbidden love interest is thrown into the mix, you can't help but fall in love with the characters in the book as the plot unfolds.

I will say that I did find the big bad of the book to be predictable, perhaps it is because I read so much but either way it was still a great fight to the finish.
I am hoping there shall be more to read about in a sequel

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Synopsis:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister Primrose, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before — and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love

Bought it from the Amazon Kindle Store.

I was not sure about this book going into it. I mainly picked it up because more then one of my good friends guaranteed that I would love it and even threatened in good nature of course, to beat me up if I did not at least give it a shot.

After reading it I am still kind of Eh about it. While it was not the worst one I have read by far, neither is it the best. If you are a fan of the strategic action packed genre then this is the one for you. What I found so hard to believe and wrap my mind about was the fact that grown adults let children, some as young as twelve fight to the death. Perhaps I am just hopelessly optimistic but I just cannot see any one not starting an out and out riot over the fact that kids were killing one another. I for one would not want the victor to grow up with that much mental damage and the knowledge of how to kill another, sometimes even so brutally.

I did like the fact that in the end it was not brute strength that won it for them, it was brains that gave them the advantage over them all.

I will say the writer was able to draw enough emotion out of me that as I read it and as certain characters died I was sad for their loss and that to me is the sign of a good writer even if I was not a particular fan of the book.
It is one I will recommend to the ones who enjoy such genre's

Darkness Rising By Keri Arthur

Synopsis:
Risa will go to any lengths to avenge her mother’s murder—even if it means making a pact with the most evil vampire she’s ever met. Lethal and powerful, Madeline Hunter is leader of the vampire council, and will put her resources behind finding the killer—for a price. The venerable vampire requires the assistance of Risa’s psychic powers. Quid pro quo.

Someone—or something—is targeting the elders of the local council, cursing the immortal vampires to rapidly age, sink into madness, and die. Risa must track down the vengeful being responsible. But Risa’s father, a rogue Aedh priest, also enlists her in a dangerous mission. And not even the great Madeline Hunter may be able to protect her from the shadowy forces that desire nothing less than Risa’s destruction

Bought it with my own money!

Review:
With Rissa's story it is like being put in a  time machine when I first opened up and became of Riley's journey all those years ago. The two just seem to follow in each other's footsteps as they had to have faced adventure and trouble one after another and become twisted and tangled in a messy love triangle.

And I love every second of it. Keri Arthur is one of my favorite author's, her books line my shelf's and she is always one of the author's I fly to the shelves to buy.

My one problem with this book was what happened to Tao, I just could not believe it! I don't want to be a spoiler so I will leave it at that but it truly drew such emotion from me that I actually found myself worrying about how he and Illena would end up, which the second book does not tell unfortunately, but understandably as I am sure the third will explain and they need to sell books. I am eagerly awaiting the next addition so I can sigh and think back on my life as I read Riley's journey. Also I want to figure out who that mystery man is that is being revealed as the new big bad villian.

Review:
Stay out of the woods at night and don't go out into the dark alone. Those were the rules so often repeated through out the entire novel and as you read through it you understand why.
One girl after the next is mauled to pieces out in those woods with no clue other then some mysterious animal that they cannot seem to capture is the culprit. Just a mess of flesh.

This is one suspenseful twist after other and unlike most paranormal novel the cards are kept relatively close at hand until the book is starting to slope towards the end. You have to work for the hints that are there right in front of you, just like everyone . Just as I thought the book was coming to a close the author threw me for a loop and tossed out a cliff hanger ending that left me extremely frustrating and wanting the sequel in my hands right this moment.

I think the only thing that kind of bugged me was that the main character was from a big city and came off shallow and to make fun of a small town. Yes I can understand having moved from a small town from the big city, so it was not to big of a problem for me. I didn't like the twist towards the end that one of the characters attitude took, because it seemed just thrown out there to add a plot twist for the next book.

Favorite Charrie: Justin, I don't know what it is about that bad boy that you are suppose to stay away from but he always wins my heart in the books.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

Synopsis:
Grace and Sam share a kinship so close they could be lovers or siblings. But they also share a problem. When the temperature slips towards freezing, Sam reverts to his wolf identity and must retreat into the woods to protect his pack. He worries that eventually his human side will fade away and he will be left howling alone at the lonely moon. A stirring supernatural teen romance.

Review:
I know this book has been very active in the reader's scene, in fact for the most part I have had nothing but fabulous reviews, so I decided to see what all the fuss was about.

I was excited to get the book, Finally, I would have a chance to delve in and see what has everyone so fascinated about it.

Unfortunately the book was just not for me. The point of view switched way to much for my taste and it seemed like the characters were just a little to bland. I am a believer in love at first sight but I don't think it happens as intensely as possible right off the bat.

It was beautifully written, reminding me more of the epic poems then an actual story.

I did think the take on werewolves was unique and I enjoyed the fact the author decided to go a new direction instead of following the every day shifting part.

Kaylee can't let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk….
Got it by buying it for the Amazon Kindle!

Review:
This book brings a whole new meaning to selling your soul to the devil in order to gain osomething grand. The only difference is that Kaylee and Nash have to go up against rogue reapers yet again and a hellion who has a taste for young teenage souls. that are being traded for their chance to shine in the spotlight of fame.

This was a pretty fast paced book but it is kind of expected given the time frame they were handed along with such a severe sitaution. How are you suppose to find the hellion Someone sold their soul to, and negotiate the out clause in just a week's time? What I think I liked most about this book though was the fact that even though the eternal soul rested on the shoulders of two teenager's, they were still treated like teenager's keeping a secret from one of their parent's. Like any dad should act when his daughter sneeks out and cannot be found, Kaylee's dad even threatends to go to the police if she hasn't contacted him by a certain time, because he is kept in the dark she also gets a month's worth of grounding

Favorite Charrie:
Levi, aside from the fact he shares a name with one of my ex's, I liked the big reveal of what the big bad boss man in charge looked like, I litterally started to grin while reading.

Will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials love can endure

Review:
I am not ashamed to say that immediately finishing Nightshade, I went and bought Wolfsbane for the kindle, letting it download as I waited on customers. I both love and despise the cliff hanger ending's that each came to a conclusion with, but I am getting ahead of myself.

Wolfsbane starts off almost exactly where Nightshade ended, much to my delight. There were no time lapses where you were left wondering, well what happened while I was away. It picked up, right in Calla's shoes as she regained consciousness.  Shay and Calla find themselves in an enemy stronghold where they began to understand the extent of the lies they were raised on.

Calla is without her pack and extremely worried about the effects her actions will have on them.

There was a lot of good in this book, but there was sadly a lot of parts I did not like.  One of them being how weak Calla seemed to have changed into. She was always so strong and take charge, but it seemed like with everything she became those whining little girls who expect things handed to them on a silver platter.

I also refused to believe the plot twit that occurred where Ren is concerned. I do not doubt for a second how much he loves Calla, and because of that I do think that if you love someone that much no way would you act the way Ren did.

 Favorite charrie:
Connor, I loved his comedic relief, it actually had me grinning in parts and it reminded me of my best friends.

Quotes:
1." Ethan and Connor think their man hood is equal to the amount of steel they have tucked beneath their clothing."

Review:
I was very excited to get this book, sure I bought the e-book myself even though I much prefer print copies, I just could not wait. It was the cover art that first drew me in, the picture was just absolutely stunning and lucky for me, the story turned out to be as well.

The character's in the novel are very well thought through, each of them strong and rounded, perhaps one of my favorite that shows just how realistic the characters were created, was the fact that there was a gay couple within the pack's, and as you might imagine, not everyone agreed with it. Despite being told by the Alpha, that they needed to suck it up and deal with it because they were in full support of the relationship, words were exchanged as well as a couple of punches and instead of it rolling through as if it was no big deal. The alpha's actually punished those who were in the wrong.

That was another thing that I liked about this book. I have noticed a lot of the time, author's forget the wolf hierarchy that comes with werewolves, this one was obviously not one of those cases. To me they seemed to follow the wolf hierarchy pretty close, even to the point on who eats first.

I did have a little bit of mixed feelings when it came to the main character Calla, I liked her personality, and the fact that it seemed well balanced, not to sweet so everyone loves her and not to witchy so everyone hates her. What really disappointed me was Calla's reaction to Shay. I felt that she was practically engaged and arranged marriage or not, she had been serious with it and Ren definitely drew some sort of emotion out of her but she still seemed to not act as if she were engaged and that bothered me.

The big fight scene at the end also seemed a little rushed for my taste but it left off in a way that I immediately went and bout the sequel so it could have possibly been the point.

Favorite Charrie:

Ren. He is one fine piece of beef cake and his actions in the end sealed the deal where I am concerned.

Quotes:
1. " I swallowed a groan, searching for any clothes I particularly wanted to protect, and sat on top of my Republicans for Voldermort hoodie."
2. "I've got a bottle full of hydrochloric acid in my hand, Ren. Don't piss me off."
3. " I didn't have these boobs until you cinched it up.

Review:
I was a little iffy when I started to read this, It was about two siblings who find another world, and it was written in such a raw way that for most people it wouldn't work. Luckily it didn't effect the story at all, in fact, the story was so good it seemed to add to it, as if it was written by one of the main characters' in a rush to get everything written down as it happened. There are no polished edges like most novels have and it was not long before worry turned into anticipation as I found my self addicted to turning the pages and finding out what happened next.

This novel had just about everything in it a great story needs to survive. Love , secrets death and intrigue all in one action packed package. I definitely cannot wait to get my hands on the next in the trilogy.

Review:
I was excited to crack open this book, it was not long before I had finished the cliff hanger ending of the second and was throwing it down in frustration that I scrambled for Silence. I think one of the best aspects of this story was that no matter what Patch did or tried to do, the two always found their way back together. It is like the Chinese proverb that talks about the red thread of destiny.
Another amusing aspect was that Nora just could not seem to stay out trouble no matter what she did and as usual Patch always rode in on the proverbial white stead as her white knight.

Review:
This was a unique romance, it tied together the historical romance aspect that I am a sucker for, along with the paranormal vampire one in this unique twist that was absolutely amazing and totally worked.

The big bad vampire king that is fighting off the darkness, rises to the occasion and becomes the hero, the white knight every little girl dreams of that swoops in and saves the day even though love was the last thing on either of the main characters minds. Yes, I am sure Victoria  was hoping for it but given her time frame I am sure she doubted it would happen.  Just as such a weakness like love could not have come at a worse time as someone tried to usurp his crown and take over his clan. But like most cases the heart wants what it wants.

Review:
This was one of those books that made me wish that I had children. So I could tuck them in and sit before a fire, a dog at my feet sleeping while I read this book to them.
It made me think of someone reading a tale to me aloud, the way my grandmother did. It was created in a way that felt as if it was just a story being passed down they way they use to before books. Through good old story telling.

I liked how there was more then one fairy tale incorporated through this if you know where to look and being the fairy tale junkie that I am, I immediatly siezed them up.

Yes, someone dies that left me stunned as I was rooting for them to find happiness at the finish line but in the end they have the last say in things

Review:  So we are brought back to reincarnated love and the trouble that follows them through the ages. It just seems like everyone is out to get these two love birds. They are exactly as the blog is titled, Star-crossed.
I can't help but feel sorry for Ever when she realizedsed that she had been forgotten by the one person who means the most to her, her love. I know I would have been a complete and total wreck if my fiance forgot me in the time frame of just one passing day, and then proceeded to treat me the way Damen treated her. While I liked that it showed this other side to him, because everyone always has this side they hide from the other, it still was rather sad to read about.
I did like the twist the villain was able to pull off, for once there is no happy ending and while I am ever the romantic I have gotten tired of knowing how books or movies will end because they think everyone loves a happy ending.
I do think it will be interesting to see how they push through it though.

Review:
I picked this book up after reaeding seers and Darcus noticed that there were many similarities. So since I like to maky my own mind up about things, I gave it a try seeing as I loved Seers.

I have seen this series in wal-mart time and time again, each time I found mysel stopping to admire the cover art but I always seemed to have a better book to buy or I thought it was to young adult for me, so I never picked it up. I was pleasantly surprised that althought it was a highschool drama, the amount of emotion put behind the charrachters was truly fascinating.

I liked how there was a creepy stalker lady, also known as Drina. Because we all know there are those crazies out there with every man or woman you date who just wont let go. So it was realistic in that sense, I see it almost every day at my work but at least they didn't go as far as Drina did... to my knowledge.
The part that was most relatable and drew the most emotion for me, was when Ever had to talk her sister into moving on. I just could not imagine having to tell my younger sister that it was ok to go.

Favorite Charrie: Haven. Yes it is bad to say but she was described as a human being, in the real world, even best friends get jealous when the other friend gets the guys attention.
